This May, RNID is challenging BioIndustry Association (BIA) member organisations to run, walk, swim, cycle, or wheel, connecting the BIA's headquarters in London with global cities where hearing therapeutics are being researched, and raise vital funds to accelerate the development of groundbreaking treatments for hearing loss and tinnitus! Kicking off at the start of Deaf Awareness Week (6th May) , teams across the UK life sciences and biotech industry will compete with fellow BIA member organisations to see who can travel the furthest distance and raise the most funds. Across the UK, 12 million people have hearing loss, and 1 in 7 adults live with tinnitus. Despite these staggering numbers, there are still no clinically approved treatments available for those who need them. Living with hearing loss or tinnitus can be a lonely and isolating experience, profoundly affecting people's quality of life and both mental and physical health. Unaddressed hearing loss also escalates the risk of dementia by up to five times. RNID is the only charity in the UK dedicated to funding hearing research and connects innovators with the infrastructure and expertise they need, at EVERY STEP of the translational pathway. Do you work for a BIA member organisation? Are you up for a challenge? Sign up now and Step Up for RNID with the BIA! The BioIndustry Association (BIA) is the voice of the innovative life sciences and biotech industry, enabling and connecting the UK ecosystem so that businesses can start, grow and deliver world-changing innovation. Helping biotech and life sciences sector to influence, connect and save. www.bioindustry.org
